‘There’s something about some of my favorite musicals that they put me in a sort of heightened state where I feel like I’m floating out of the theater rather than walking out.’ – Damien Chazelle
La La Land (2017)
You either love it or you hate it. I LOOOOOVE it. Click here to read my review.
Been So Long (2018)
A musical set in Camden. Michaela Coel is extraordinary in the lead. Both she and her her co-star, Arinze Kene, are real ones to watch.
Sing (2017)
An aniamted musical about a Koala’s Talent Show. Adorable. Click here to read my review.
Priscilla Queen of the Desert (1994)
Not strictly a musical, but the song choices and usage of music overall are essential in this Australian drama-comedy. And there is a musical stage show of it, if you want to colour your world…
The Bird Cage (1996)
Another ‘technically not a musical’ but this one is based on the French musical La Cage aux Folles. Had to be mentioned for it’s epic performance by Robin Williams alongside Nathan Lane and Gene Hackman. Iconic.
