Movie Monday – Antidote Movies (Netflix edition)

“[W]hen you realize you want to spend the rest of your life with somebody, you want the rest of your life to start as soon as possible.” – When Harry Met Sally

Ella Enchanted (2004)

I have no time for the Anne Hathway haters. Especially not when it comes to the movie my family and I watch together nearly every Christmas. Made during that early/mid noughties period when there were loads of good teen movie, this is a classic. Featuring a rendition of ‘Somebody To Love’ that is far superior to anything in that movie from last year.

Jumanji (1995)

Robin Williams.

Legally Blonde (2001)

‘If you’re going to let one stupid prick ruin your life, you’re not the girl I thought you were.’

When Harry Met Sally (1989)

Not just romantic comedy perfection, but film perfection. Directed by the inconceivably brilliant pairing of Rob Reiner and Nora Ephron.

Step Brothers (2008)

You know a film is good when anytime you use a particular word or phrase, you ca’t help but think of that film. For me, anytime the word ‘activities’ is used, I can’t help but think of this.

Some Like It Hot (1959)

Pure brilliance.

Last Holiday (2006)

A film about a woman being told she has a terminal illness with little time left to live, doesn’t scream ‘feelgood’. And yet… Queen Latifah is phenomenal as the lead in a film that is wonderfully earnest and warm.

The Little Prince (2015)

Top 3 quotes from this film, in no particular order. 1) “The most beautiful things in the world cannot be seen or touched, they are felt with the heart.” 2) “All grown-ups were once children… but only few of them remember it.” 3) “I am who I am and I have the need to be.”

Actually makes my heart ache. In a good way.
